Save Fel’s Heart, Save her Life!

Fel, a close friend of ours has been suffering from a congenital heart defect. She was born with atrial septal defect, and was only detected at the age of 16 years old when she had her medical check up for college. It is a birth defect of the heart in which there is a hole in the wall (septum) that divides the upper chambers (atria) of the heart. A hole can vary in size and may close on its own or may require surgery. However, her case requires surgery as the whole has become bigger now, about 3 cm in diameter.

Fel has been experiencing shortness of breath, especially due to prolonged physical activities, fatigue, heart palpitations or skipped beats, heart murmur, and other discomforts. She has been tolerating these. But time has come that she needs an operation, an open heart surgery to close this hole/opening or else her heart can no longer function.

She needs to be operated as soon as possible but their means do not permit it. The cost of the operation is more or less PhP600,000/$12,000.
