My name is Paul Victor; I am the Founder and Executive Director of www.wezeshakenya.org( Wezesha Youth Initiative)a Youth Led organization addressing various societal issues, having worked with thousands of Youth across the country (Kenya) in community's based areas such as HIV/AIDS, Environmental and Mental Health awareness, Rehabilitation of street families, Drugs and substance abuse awareness campaigns among others, I realised that most girls especially in Rural areas, slums and urban set up are suffering from social issues, to make it worse majority lack self esteem and courage to share their issues. Access to sanitary pads is a big challenge facing most girls during this covid19 period, our effort to push relevant authorities to provide free sanitary towels has bore no fruits, poverty is a big hindrance, majority are turning to crime, prostitution and hard labour inorder to survive. Our earlier research established that out of 10 house holds only 1 can access or provide sanitary towels, which has made it very difficult to empower the communities.
Despite these problems, as Youth organization, we've done a lot inorder to address this menace, pre covid19 we convened more than 10 forums to address Mental Health, HIV/AIDS which is rampant in the slums of Majengo and Mathare, we managed to mobilize more than 500 people to get VCT and support healthcare in conjunction with Pumwani Dispensary a local health facility.
We've a monthly program targeting orphanages, the aged and vulnerable childrens, we distribute food items, clothing and link some households with the health facilities. Recently we started street families feeding program.
Resources mobilization has been a bottleneck In handling these, most of us are unemployed, we rely on members contributions, well wishers and the scarce community's resources. It's for these reasons that we've come out to seek your support, be it finance or food stuffs we shall appreciate.
This campaign is meant to raise 1million sanitary pads(Towels) within a period and Food stuffs for 5000 house holds both in the slums of majengo and Mathare in Nairobi Kenya. We shall also extend the project to other areas with time.
All money raised herein will go to Wezesha Youth Initiative account, we've a competent team with diverse skills, credibility with a lot of experience in humanitarian work . Our organization is fully registered with the department of social development under ministry of Social security and Labour.
By making your donations, you're not only helping these girls but community at large, we shall periodically publish the report on our website and update you on our activities and progress as far as the campaign is concerned.
Your contribution will help curb theft, prostitution, civil disobedience , criminal gangs and other social evils related to such environment.
