About this Campaign

SANITARY TOWEL FUNDRAISER CONCEPT NOTE
As the world grapples with the unfortunate crisis of the corona virus pandemic, many girls in both the slum and rural communities of Kenya are stuck at home with no access to sanitary towels.

Promote the education and retention of the girl child in school through attending to their menstrual Hygiene management. Failure for kibera slums adolescent girls to have proper sanitary menstruation materials such as underwear and sanitary towels can have negative health consequences and also cause girls to worry that they will have a leak at school and be harassed or teased, giving them another reason to skip school during their periods. This is causing girls in kenya to miss crussial days of school.you can kindly support us by donating to our charity

Ksh.100/ $1 can help a girl access two packets of sanitary towels for two months, our campaign is running and we need to support as many girls as possible so that no single girl is left out.

Menstruation and menstrual practices still face many social, cultural, and religious restrictions which are a big barrier in the path of menstrual hygiene management. In many parts of the country especially in rural and slums areas girls are not prepared and aware about menstruation so they face many difficulties and challenges at home, schools, and work spaces. Girls and women have very less or no knowledge about reproductive tract infections caused due to ignorance of personal hygiene during menstruation time. In slums and rural areas, women do not have access to sanitary products and if they do, they cannot afford to buy them.

we continue to commit ourselves to advocate for the rights of girls who are not able to access sanitary towels especially in these uncertain times of covid-19. Teachers should also be educated and trained to impart knowledge about menstruation and menstrual hygiene management among students. Social and electronic media also play an important role to make the girls and women aware about the latest menstrual products, different manufacturers and government policies.

Menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is an essential aspect of a woman’s wellbeing.
When girls in schools experience their periods, they tend to miss school because of the stigma around menstruation and the lack of sanitary towels, It is our humble request to you our dear donors to continue supporting us on this cause so that we break this barrier, and girls can be able to attend school with dignity.
Thank you so much and may the good Lord bless you as you serve humanity.

Background

Chends kalaha is community based organization aim of advocating for a clean environment, advocating for a drug-free, crime-free society, gender based, women empowerment and entrepreneurship. The group draws its membership from many women’s and youths who have reformed from drug and substance abuse and crime activities and they greatly regret for having went astray at one point in their lives. They have tested the bitterness of being part and parcel of drug and substance abuse and taking part in crime.

Every member of the group has their own history and they are brought together by a desire to see that no more crimes exist in the society and we have a drug-free society. They aim at achieving this through provision of education to the young Kenyans who reside in kibera and are likely to go astray on the disadvantages of taking that path. They have also seen and witnessed the intensity of the urge to establish economic projects which will keep them engaged and become a source of employment and income for them.

Amid their endeavours to take part in bringing up the society, the group is currently actively involved in slum toilet and water projects programs, environment clean-up activities, small businesses, and Forefront in providing the general public with education on environmental conversation, gender based violence, drugs abuse, HIV/aids among others.so that kibera can be kept a good place to live, neat and clean.

Our mission is to empower all women with practical skills, developing their talents and reducing the number of vulnerable and unemployed women in kibera slums in Kenya.

Our vision is to be a self-sustainable organization nurturing women in Africa with skills, facilities and inspiration, transforming them from hopelessness to productive excellence.

By advocating for women’s rights we aim to mobilize, equip and inspire communities to actively participate in and influence policies in all areas of life that women face adversity – socially, politically, economically and intellectually – while preserving the environment for sustainable development.

your donation will be highly appreciated so much.
