I am running the Cheltenham Half Marathon on 3rd September 2023 to help raise money for Meg, Ed and their two children to create precious memories together at Disneyland Paris, after Meg received a diagnosis of a stage 4 brain tumour shortly after giving birth.

I have included Meg's story below, and you can also view the family's fundraising page here: https://assets.gogetfunding.com/time-with-mum/ All of the money I raise will be paid into this pot after the half marathon.

Please consider donating whatever you can give - no amount is too small. Let's ensure this family's only focus needs to be Meg's wellbeing, and that they can make those happy memories together for as long as possible.

Megs Story

After giving birth to their second child Arabella, Meg noticed things weren't quite right. Her body didnt feel normal but it was suspected this was just an unfortunate side-effect of the medication given during the c-section.

The side-effects didn't stop so further tests were carried out, with the conclusion that there was a very small piece of tissue in her brain. Surgery was booked and although nervous and worried, life on the whole didn't change.

A few weeks passed and surgery was fast approaching. Further tests were carried out for the surgeons to finalise the plans for surgery. This is when the situation drastically changed.

What was originally thought to be tissue had grown, meaning it was a tumour could likely be some form of cancer. Urgency for surgery became apparent and within days, Meg was under the knife.

The surgery was fairly successful, with the surgeons removing as much of the tumour as they possibly could. The removed tumour was sent off for testing to understand what it was, and to provide a diagnosis for future treatment.

Unfortunately, this is when the worst news was received.

Doctors had found that the tumour was in-fact a Stage 4 tumour. As it stands, Meg is healthy but it is likely that further treatment will be needed over the coming months/years.

As a young family and with Ed being the only "breadwinner", it is almost impossible for them to save money for this memorable experience. Friends and family have already clubbed together to provide money for bills and groceries, and now we want to go one further.
