US$2,230.00raised of $2,000.00 goal goal
For the longest time for my birthday I have wanted to do something different, but I always prioritized celebrations and parties with friends and family. This year, I am finally making a change. Instead of gifts and celebrations, I want to raise money for the Hope Center Orphanage in Vietnam. Vietnam is a country that has given me alot, I have resided here for over 5 years and it has changed me, my outlook on life and the person I have become.
This year, for my birthday I will be running the Mountain Trail Half Marathon in Sapa, Vietnam. To prepare for this I will be training for the actual marathon and during the whole span of my training, you are welcome to donate based on the number of hours I train or based on the total kilometers I run for the race. My aim is to raise as much as possible to help our little ones and this is a small step towards that.
Help me, help our children! Donate towards my fundraiser :)
Navigate to the Updates tab to see live updates on the training and our visit to see the kids!
Any amount is valuable! Thank you!

Acclimatizing to SapaUpdate posted by DEEPA ANN JOHN at 04:00 pm
After training for 6 weeks on the flat roads of Saigon, we decided to go one week in advance to the race location to acclimatize to the Sapa Mountains and practise at-least a little on the hilly region. Some might say, 1 week is advance to practise an elevation gain. . . . .
What are we fundraising towards?Update posted by DEEPA ANN JOHN at 03:27 pm
What an incredible feeling to have come this far with all your support! So where exactly are we going to put this money? During our visit few weekends back, we realized that the kids' playground had fallen to the ground. When I say fallen to the ground I mean shambled. . . . .
Challenges aren't meant to be easy!Update posted by DEEPA ANN JOHN at 12:09 am
It's not easy! Getting up every single day, prioritizing running above meeting up with friends or laying in bed, watching Netflix or even doing absolutely nothing. To run everyday, I also need to mentally prepare for it and believe me when I say that sometimes I am just so lazy!. . . . .

A Little About Me!Update posted by DEEPA ANN JOHN at 01:52 pm
A little about me! If you know me, I used to be an athlete and then transitioned into a 'Fat-thlete' as my mom would say. But that doesn't mean I ever stopped loving to sprint, it absolutely thrilled me and reminded me of the good ol' days when I used. . . . .
