Clutching an empty rice sack, Rohingya mother-of-seven Sara Khatun says she has nothing left to feed her children.

After three weeks sleeping under a thin plastic sheet held up by bamboo poles, her son and daughter, aged about eight and 10, look pinched and exhausted.

“My children are getting thinner and thinner,” says the 33-year-old refugee from Myanmar. “If they don’t get help soon, they will die.”

Some 429,000 Rohingyas have fled Myanmar since a violent crackdown on the Rohingya community began a month ago following a series of attacks on security posts.

The vast majority, like Sara and her family, are now living in informal camps and spontaneous settlements that have sprung up in Bangladesh, clinging to hillsides and strung out along busy roads.

Their need for food, shelter, access to healthcare and child protection is particularly acute.

At least 1,267 children have been separated from their families and are at particular risk of human trafficking, sexual abuse, child labour and child marriage.

The emergency situation in Rakhine State, Burma, has worsened since 25 August when violent clashes began between minority factions and Burmese militants, resulting in a reported 1,000 plus fatalities and the displacement of hundreds of thousands.

The United Nations estimates that more than 400,000 men, women and children have fled Burma for refuge in Bangladesh since the violence erupted, with thousands more arriving each day.

Unicef estimates that 50,000 of the new arrivals to Bangladesh are pregnant women and an “unprecedented” 60 per cent of new refugees in Bangladesh are children. Many are malnourished and injured, having walked for days in search of sanctuary.

$100 can provide food for a family for one month

$200 can provide access to shelter

$250 can provide emergency medical supplies.

We will donate all the collected fund to the Prime Minister's Disasture fund of Bangladesh so that the Government of Bangladesh can control the hole charity proccess and to reach the really needed people through Bangladesh Armed Forces.
