It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our colleague and Opal Crew member Roberto Garcia, who has passed as a result of his ongoing illness. On Saturday 8th May 2021, Bobby departed these shores on his final voyage and sailed away to a more peaceful place. He will be sorely missed. Bobby was an amazing person, colleague and friend. Never was there a better fitter. His skills in the workplace were exemplary and his encouragement and guidance to others admirable.

Dealing with the death of a Crew member/Colleague is always unusual and can be difficult.

Sometimes, the generosity of people can provide a real bright spot.

We are encouraging our Crew to donate Roberto's legacy and help his family during these difficult times. Any and all contributions made will be greatly appreciated and will provide a great deal of comfort for Roberto's wife and family.

Bobby Garcia – 3 November 1962 – 8 May 2021. Devoted family man, awesome fitter, absolute legend. RIP Bobby.

  • I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Bobby. He was a great character with his calm and friendly personality, an awesome creator and hard worker. "Bobby will fix it!" was a very common thing to hear in the engine room. My Condolences and best wishes to the family. RIP my friend.
