"We're all humans aren't we? Every human's life is worth the same and is worth saving." The words said by the famous author J.K Rowling is the epitome of why I am on this path. My name is Eden Riley and my dream is to help make a brighter future for our people. Road to Rwanda is the first step to fulfilling that dream.
On July the 15th I will be on a plane flying to the country of Rwanda in Africa as part of the Gobal Volunteer Network. Their philosophy is, "local solutions to local problems." They believe that local communities are in the best position to determine their needs and provide volunteers to help them achieve their goals. I will be there for the duration of 12 weeks. Once there, my volunteer work will consist of working in orphanages, working along-side local women's association in developing sustainable business activites and assisting in the noon feeding program.
I have been asked by many why? Why volunteer for free? Why help people you don't know in a country you've never been to before? Simple. While others may see a different culture in a different country, I see the same species in the same world as mine. I believe everybody deserves a chance to a brighter future, a chance to be able to learn and a chance to a better life. They deserve to be happy. This is why I, Eden Riley have chosen to be a volunteer and this is where I need you to help.
When I signed up to be a volunteer I was unaware of the costs it included. As well as my program fee there are visas, immunisations, insurance and living exspenses whilst in Rwanda. All up it does get quite costly. Anything and everything is welcome. If you are interested in helping, donations are muchly appreciated. Please help support my first step.
