She’s diabetic, and it has become aggressive to the point where crystals have formed in both of her eyes. What she has is advanced diabetic retinopathy, which can lead to complete vision loss.

Her doctor advised that she needed prompt treatment. The procedure involves injecting medications into the eyes along with laser treatments. The eye injections for both eyes will be done once a month for 6 months, and the laser treatment once a week for 3 weeks.
Both procedures are covered by her health insurance; however, the medications used for the eye injections are not. The medication needed costs roughly ₱80,000 per month. She also needs to continue her insulin shots for her diabetes. She underwent many eye exams and consultations with doctors, so her health insurance is nearing its maximum limit. Once that point has been reached, she would need to shell out additional funds to cover the treatments.
