Hello everyone,

My name is Derick Ongeiwun, team leader at MOVE NETWORK INTERNATIONAL. I was inspired to create the organization by witnessing the struggles of young mothers in Uganda as well as by my passion for community leadership, and youth empowerment.

Our organization is based out of the Luzira suburb in Uganda's capital, Kampala. We focus on supporting young mothers between the ages of 13 and 35 years old through the challenges of poverty, illiteracy, mental illness, and early marriage among other issues. We embrace a holistic approach to supporting young mothers by addressing their challenges spiritually, socially, and economically. We do so by creating a safe environment in which they can adopt a growth mindset, learn, and develop life skills. We also support the young women to pursue economic advancement through entrepreneurship. Additionally, our organization provides youth members with healthcare, and mental health services to ensure their well-being.

Our goal is to create impactful programs with ongoing support to lift young people toward becoming individuals who lead transformation in their lives, families, and communities.

With your financial support, our organization is able to continue to do this life-changing work.

This is what your donation would be supporting:

USD $16 per month sponsors essential healthcare for one teenage mother.

USD $27 per month sponsors a birthing delivery kit, which contains the necessary equipment for a safe delivery.

USD $13 per month sponsors a teenage mother to receive counseling, mentorship, different types of training, attend career talks, and other professional development services.

USD $27 per month supports a baby's childcare and health care.

USD $19 per month sponsors a teenage mother to receive business training, coaching, skill development education, and financial training for economic development.

USD $133 supports a teenage mother to start a small business that allows her to provide for her family financially.

In Uganda, there is a high rate of teenage pregnancy. 6 out of every 10 births are by girls below 19 years of age.

Unfortunately, teenage mothers are highly stigmatized in Uganda, are usually not allowed to continue schooling, and are often disowned by parents and communities. Teenage mothers are affected emotionally, mentally, and financially by their situation and fall into a cycle of poverty.

To support our mission, please consider making a financial contribution so we can continue to provide this community with counseling, mentorship, business training, skills development, career guidance, healthcare, academic aid, legal aid, and business funding for economic growth.

We believe that when we empower a teenage mother we have empowered three generations, and those are: The teenage mother, the children, and the parents of the mother. We focus on economic empowerment through skills development, business funding, and financial literacy. We encourage the mothers to develop their financial health by encouraging them to save through our ‘MOVE SAVING SCHEME’.

We appreciate the support of our mission so that we can empower this generation and the next generation to be their best.

If you would like to further discuss how to sponsor a teenage mother, help raise funds for this project, or contribute your expertise or services to the project, please feel happy to contact me at [email protected] | [email protected]
