Hello, we are Charlie and Michelle, and we want to share our story with you. We have dedicated our lives to rescuing animals, and we're the driving force behind ARC - Animal Rescue Caminha Portugal, a sanctuary in the heart of northern Portugal.

Our journey here was fuelled by a deep passion for animals and a desire to make a difference. We've witnessed the heartbreaking reality in Portugal, where every single day, 119 cats and dogs are abandoned. In 2021 alone, a staggering 43,000 animals faced abandonment. These innocent animals were left to fend for themselves in a country where overcrowded shelters, post-COVID economic struggles, and a lack of support led to unimaginable suffering including beatings, chained up in areas with a fire risk and being starved on a chain.

When we moved to Portugal, we couldn't ignore the desperate calls for help from abandoned animals on the streets. We opened our hearts and our home to these furry friends, and today, we care for 13 dogs, and two cats. All abandoned. But it's not enough; there are countless more out there who need our help.

That's why we're launching this fundraiser with a goal of 5000 euros. This money will be used to build a block of kennels, a safe haven for 25 to 30 rescued dogs. We envision a place where they can run, play, and heal from the scars of their past. Animal rescue is a 24/7 commitment, both physically and emotionally. Plus, financially, we can't do it alone anymore. We need your help.

Any amount left over from the cost of building the kennels will be used for food and vet expenses. Your contribution, even the cost of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, can change a dog's life. It can provide shelter, food, vaccinations, and sterilisation, giving them a second chance at a loving home.

Imagine the joy in a dog's eyes when they find comfort and security within the walls of our new kennels. For many dogs, the first night here is the best sleep they ever get. No longer keeping on eye on any possible dangers. Your support can change the world for a dog, offering hope where there was once only despair and a future where there was once only suffering.

Please join us in our mission, become a supporter, and together, let's rewrite the stories of these furry friends. Help us turn our dreams into reality and give these abandoned souls the love and care they deserve. Your actions can truly help #rescuesavelives and #feedstraydogsinPortugal. Together, we can make a difference, one paw at a time. #fosteringsavelives. Find us on FB at https://www.facebook.com/animalrescuecaminha/
