Our Story:

In the arid heartland in the South of Namibia, our hardworking farmers are facing a dire situation. Drought, a relentless force of nature, has gripped the region, leaving our farmers with dwindling resources and the lives of their livestock in jeopardy. This is a story of resilience and the power of community, and we need your help to make a difference.

In Southern Namibia we have a rather special farming community. These farmers have created a normally sustainable lifestyle providing employment, food and revenue from a very hostile, arid environment with meager resources. A large community is dependent on these farmers surviving currently extraordinary droughts and interest rate burdens.

Rainfall is generally below 200 mm per year in good years and way below 100 mm per year in dry years. To this date this has been managed successfully. 9 of the last 11 years have been extraordinarily dry. This was also exacerbated by the 2 years of Covid.

Our dedicated farmers who has poured their heart and soul into caring for their animals and working the land for years. Their livestock are not just their source of income but also their families, their farm workers and their families. As many farmers have done they invested in a small hospitality business on their farm to assist them in lean years to keep their Livestock and Game alive. The Covid income losses and subsequent interest rate hikes, damage a plan that was working well.

In this unforgiving drought, they are faced with an impossible decision: to watch their beloved animals suffer or to seek help from people like you who care about making a positive impact in the world.

Grunau Farmers Association has over 45 farmers facing this appalling situation.The situation is urgent, and the consequences of inaction are devastating. But together, we can change the course of this story.
