Tvt´s are malignant (cancerous) tumors that arise from the dysregulated growth of cells called histiocytes. Histiocytes are a type of immune system cell found in many areas of the body, including the skin.

Different from other cancers, TVT´s are transferrable between dogs. It is transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact with the tumor that results in cancer cells being transplanted from dog to dog.

This tumor was diagnosed by the veterinary via cytology. The vet examinates in the microscope cell samples collected with a cotton-tipped swab directly from the tumor located on the dog penis. It is the place where my dog starts bleeding and have an irregular thickening of the tissue.

I am asking for help because the chemo treatment is very expensive and this challenge has come in a difficult time financially.

Remington (A.K.A. Remy) was rescued in the Baja desert of "el Vizcaino" since he was probably 4 months old(2017). Remy seems to be very thankful to have a family, me, and my daughter and he is friendly with every dog and human. He enjoys going for long walks, where always people come to pet him, he loves to play with puppies and kids (and is very cautious with his 66 pounds, sometimes he plays lying down to not to hurt them). But now we need to keep him isolated from other dogs to avoid transmission to other dogs.

Remy is very closely attached to us and we love him that´s why I have to try to help him.

The surgery is estimated to be around $1,400 mxn and the chemo would add at least $7,500 mxn ($1,500 every week for about 5 weeks) for a total $8,900 mxn and the vitamins and supplements we need to introduce to his diet during and after the treatment.

I understand that it is not easy but a little goes a long way and every little bit helps!

Apoyo para Remy TVT (Tumores venéreos transmisibles) Cirugía / Quimioterapia

Las TVT son tumores malignos (cancerosos) que surgen del crecimiento desregulado de las células llamadas histiocitos. Los histiocitos son un tipo de célula del sistema inmune que se encuentra en muchas áreas del cuerpo, incluida la piel.

A diferencia de otros tipos de cáncer, los TVT son transferibles entre perros.

Se transmite a través del contacto directo de piel a piel con el tumor que da como resultado el trasplante de células cancerosas de perro a perro.

Este tumor fue diagnosticado por el veterinario mediante citología. El veterinario examina en el microscopio las muestras de células recolectadas con un hisopo con punta de algodón directamente del tumor ubicado en el pene del perro. Es el lugar donde mi perro comienza a sangrar y tiene un engrosamiento irregular del tejido.

Estoy pidiendo ayuda porque el tratamiento de quimioterapia es muy costoso y este desafío ha llegado en un momento económico difícil.

Pero ahora necesitamos mantenerlo aislado para evitar la transmisión a otros perros.

Remy está muy unido a nosotras y lo amamos, por eso tengo que intentar ayudarlo.

La cirugía se estima en alrededor de $ 1,400 mxn y la quimioterapia agregaría al menos $ 7,500 mxn ($ 1,500 por semana durante aproximadamente 5 semanas) para un total de $ 8,900 mxn y las vitaminas y suplementos que necesitamos para su dieta durante y después del tratamiento.
