Update

This page currently stands at £6927. We are already supplying a defibrillator but all money from this point will go to buying what the Lifeguards on Chios Island need as per this post, until everything has been supplied.

We are a non political group who believe that children in desperate conditions deserve our help no matter how they came to needing it. Children do not choose to leave their homes. Children do not choose to be orphaned due to their parents being dead. Children are children.

To get a feel for the kind of horrific situations we are responding to please read our last campaign "Urgent Lesvos Appeal"

"URGENT EMERGENCY call for help. Guys PLEASE don't pass this by. Children are literally hours from death at camp Moria in Lesvos. The rain has been relentless. We finally got the press to run this story and gogetfunding are featuring this campaign on their page. If you try to donate and it fails 1st time please try again, there's a bug with paypal that means some payments are failing. Our group "Refugee Child" are trying to help as much as we can. PLEASE PLEASE help. Please share and join our group even if you can't donate to our Lesvos appeal below. I've been in contact with someone on the ground and we're sending £1000 (not enough) there straight away to buy ponchos for the children. Since I can't get there myself I'm going to fund a volunteer to get there (not out of money donated so far out of my own money). Please please if you're a doctor or know a doctor please tell them to get in touch as transport and costs can be sorted out. A doctor was sent out yesterday: "She is in utter utter shock. Thousands of children, (half of all the refugees there). They are standing in the rain for days on end. No food, no warm clothes, no shelter. Their feet are rotting."

They don't have nearly enough volunteers there. Can you go even if not a doctor? Here are some quotes from volunteers that are there now:

"People, this is a massive emergency call for help. The situation in Moria is utterly catastrophic. We need organisations to come there. The queue for registering is 2 km long, many people do not have tents, there is no shelter. There is a handful of us volunteers in moria, there are no organisations except for once a day food distribution which is nowhere near enough for everyone. I've had people holding half dead babies up to me the whole day and we have nowhere to send them. All the NGO's are inside and doctors only very rarely come out. Tomorrow will be a disaster : there are no dry clothes for anyone, no shelter, there are children sleeping in bin bags, no food, no blankets, no diapers for babies. No access to drinking water for the people in the back of the line, people will go to sleep wet and cold tonight in the open air, half the people will wake up sick, some people will die I am sure of it. We urgently need medics on the ground, some form of sheltering and dry clothes. Please please help, we are just a few volunteers by ourselves without resources but people are looking at us to help but we can do nothing."

"the European holocaust of the 21st century is happening"

"the volunteer, like me, zipped open a tent and looked inside, the woman sitting on the floor begged her to kill her family."

"There are children with not even a bin bag or a coat. I've had women holding up seriously sick babies to me all day. I've had a pregnant woman collapse in my arms and having a seizure: it was 20 minutes before they let her through. A woman has had a miscarriage yesterday and lost the baby."

30 volunteers needed in Moria camp NOW people are collapsing !! "

"Yesterday all hell broke loose and the weather gods have opened the skies to rain and drench people who are already so full of misery. Outside the gates is us, a handful of volunteers who do not even belong to an organisation with no resources to give the thousands of ill and dying and drenched people waiting out there. The rain has not stopped, it has been relentless and never ending, draining every single and last person to the bone. There are no shelters for people to hide, there is not enough food for everybody: No water. No clean clothes for the babies. No doctors. The rain, the rain."

"SOS we need 5 volunteers NOW at Moria. To set up shelter for familys its cold rainy and people are dying".

"We, the volunteers in Moria, are completely desperate. I am completely desperate. The situation is inhuman, it is not possible that this is happening to people in Europe. Yet it is happening, my god it's happening and people are dying out there, people are collapsing in my arms and dozens of babies will die of hypothermia over the next few days."

"A passed out woman is dragged in, babies drenched in their blankets. These are the scenes I see before my eyes like a horror film I cannot switch off. The rain has been completely torrential and hasn't stopped for 3 days."

Have you read enough. PLEASE donate. Please please I'm begging you."

These are the horrific situations that refugee children are in. We must help them.

Only 4 months ago I set off to Calais as a normal mum with my car full of aid and toys for refugee children there. I had no idea that what I was about to witness would change my life forever. My heart was broken. I left a part of myself behind with the children I met there, and Refugee Child was born. You can read a small bit about my experience at that time below.

Since then we have raised over £55,000 for refugee children in Calais, Lesvos, Tilos etc. We have a Facebook group of over 1800 people and growing every day. Please join us here

https://www.facebook.com/groups/RefugeeChild/

Right now there are thousands of people stuck at the Greek border of Idomeni. Children are freezing with no shelter or food. Again we are powerless without your help.

Thank you to everyone that has donated to help the children in Calais and Lesvos etc so far. We have fully funded a project in Calais where children who have been through so much can play, learn, get food and feel safe.

Tilos Island leads the way in humanity - lets help them

Update posted by Toyah Manning at 12:50 am

Facebook update 02/12/2015 https://www.facebook.com/groups/RefugeeChild/perma... We have been working on a joint project for a new refugee camp on Tilos Island. What can I say about the Greek people. They are struggling so much at the moment yet are sharing everything they have. Tilos Island has only 600 inhabitants, 300 in. . . . .
