Please help with my Kidney Disease (Dialysis)

Hi, my name is Alex. I am a 37-year-old father of three (3) children. The eldest has just completed secondary education and is moving on to the Tertiary level, my second born is now moving on to his secondary level of education, and the baby will be attending grade 5 of Primary school.

I am diagnosed with Stage 5 (end-stage) Chronic Kidney Disease (both kidneys have failed) and had embarked on my dialysis journey since July of 2022.

This is a life-changing and ongoing process for medical treatment that is done twice per week every week, four (4) hours per treatment, sometimes longer if I begin to clot or have any other complications, at a cost of US$225 per week.

Dialysis requires strict treatment schedules, regular medications, and diet changes that get in the way of day-to-day life which often leaves me with extreme fatigue and muscle cramps.

I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy!

Humbly I understand that there is always someone who has it worse than me and I say this because I’ve seen it to be true with my own eyes. It’s a very sad sight to see another person hurting/ dying slowly and not being able to do anything about it. I have been blessed in the way of support I’ve had until now and the love I have been given, from blood relatives and complete strangers, not many dialysis patients are so lucky.

It has been a costly journey and I seek any assistance possible for another year of treatment as I am currently not working.
