Projects Abroad

I applied to work for the VSO company during my gap year after school but they told me I was both too young and unqualified..I'm definitely not too young now and have the time and determination to complete the promise I made all those years ago.

My aim is to work in Nepal for 9 months, teaching and doing care work and to then travel to Mongolia and live with the nomads for my final 3 months.

I will be working for a company called Projects Abroad placing people like me into appropriate places of work to suit the needs of the country and people and the qualities and qualifications of the vulunteers themselves. 

I will be living with the people in their homes in what I hope will be a family arrangement so that we can learn about each others countries and languages, traditions and religions.

It has been a very problematic year for me and my fundraising has been limited because of other personal difficulties so I am calling on you, my friends and family for your help and support. I do not expect something for nothing and will be doing a personal triathalon to prove my dedication to this cause. This month my adventures begin. I will be climbing the three peeks of Scotland, England and Wales over  a period of several weeks. Sadly Ben Nevisi is snowbound at the moment and unpassable so I will have to postpone that one until June or even July. Nevermind though as in between I will be doing a 5 kilometer swim and a 10 kilometer run.

Bearing in mind I am no longer a young whippersnapper I think the Ironman challenge is a  bit beyond me but I think this is both acheivable but by no means an easy target so please feel my pain as I climb, swim and run and help me on my way to what I pray will be a wonderful year and the start of a new life.
