Introduction: Since the beginning of the 1970s, Palestinian refugees in Lebanon have faced extremely difficult living conditions and deprivations that contravene with the human rights and fundamental freedoms such as work, property, medicine and hospitalization.
These refugees are spread into 12 camps and community that lack the most basic health services. In addition to the non-potable water in many of the camps, their extensions, sewage networks, and the discharge of sewage from their streams into the streets and houses, in some camps, narrow and houses adjacent to the spread of moisture and the absence of green areas.
Because of all the above, diseases are spread in camps such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and mental illness.
The decline in the role of UNRWA as the main provider of health services to refugees there and the lack of modern diagnostic tools obligate us, as civil society institutions, to play an active role in this dire health situation, in order to achieve the third objective of the World Health Organization's 20300 sustainable development goals " In all ages. "
Due to the fact that emergency and ambulance services are of particular importance to the elderly, accidents and emergencies was the project of equipping ambulances with some equipment that helps the medical team to perform its full role in the service of the patient until s/he reaches the hospital.
Definition of the project:
- The project is equipped ambulances with medical equipments and medical supplies needed by the paramedic to secure the life of the injured before reaching the hospital.
- Patients are transported to and from hospitals for free, so ambulances need fuel and maintenance during the year.
- - The paramedics are trained on how to assist the injured throughout the year, through theoretical courses and practical courses (exercises), which amounted to 200 volunteer of the association in the Palestinian camps and communities in Lebanon.
- The paramedics are equipped with a chest protection shield and a head-shield helmet to protect them from potential hazards.
- Rewards are distributed to paramedics as a catalyst for their efforts in the performance of their duties and rescue the injured.
Project goals and justifications:
The first aid teams are bodies that carries out a number of procedures and actions to provide the first aid to the injured and transfer them to the hospital as soon as possible through the ambulance which plays a major role in providing first aid to the patient or injured.
