Project Bangon Negros (Rise Negros) is a collaborative effort of the Volunteer Youth Leaders for Health-Philippines and Philippine Red Cross Negros Oriental Chapter to raise funds to provide assistance to the victims of the recent typhoon Odette.

With your support, we are hoping to extend help the communities in the northern part of the province with little to no social media attention and were the worst-hit areas.

Super Typhoon Rai -- known locally as Odette -- has now claimed at least 375 lives since it ripped through the archipelago late last week. It is the 15th typhoon to hit the Philippines this year and is the strongest storm of 2021.

It made landfall on the island on Thursday night with maximum sustained winds at 155km/h -- equivalent to a Category 5 storm.

As Odette traveled west, it ripped down homes, trees and power cables in its path, bringing with it heavy rain, widespread flooding and landslides. Communities were destroyed and hundreds of thousands left homeless by the storm. Survivors are now seen pleading on the roads for food and water, surrounded by uprooted trees and electricity poles.

Your help will surely go a long way to feed and comfort families and children in the affected areas and we would greatly appreciate any form of support from you.

Typhoon #OdettePH may have shaken us, but it will never destroy our resolve. We will bounce back from this storm... better and stronger.
