Care Babies

We are raising funds in the hopes of lightening the financial burden on low-income and teenage mothers across Botswana. In March 2022, we began gathering donations of baby items and distributing these to the families in need.

The campaign is championed by Precious Mabutho who visited the maternity ward of a local hospital wanting to drop off a bag of clothes that her baby had outgrown. The midwives shared with Precious the needs of some new mothers and how dire the situation can be.

This sparked the idea to help and so Precious sent out a call to action for donations of essentials for babies in the initial years of their lives, especially for newborn babies, on her social media platforms in the hopes of sending them to the hospital. But then she saw a post of a new mother pleading for help for baby clothes. And then another post of a heavily pregnant woman searching for small jobs so she could buy basics and essentials before she delivered her baby.

We have set up this fundraiser to help us to make an 'essentials pack' to deliver to new mothers in need and to assist us with the transportation costs of the deliveries around the country. These essential packs will include two blankets, a packet of nappies for newborns, a pack of vests, and two long onesies.

Our goal is to ensure that every mother who needs help, receives help.
