Please Help My Cat, Goldie Get Veterinary Care

Update posted by Anne Nicolas On Jun 17, 2019

Goldie has been successfully rehomed and will continue taking her few tablets of vitamins left there. I'm sorry it took a week before I post an update here I had a really hard time letting her go and I want to be in a stable state before telling you what happened. I even cried in the mall as I was giving her carrier to her new family, which is embarassing. Her new family seemed to be very kind, and I told them to contact me in case they need help with Goldie.

This campaign actually started in a spur of the moment (is that what it's called?) Situation when Goldie's belly was suddenly bloating. I took her to a vet (which costed me all my savings) and she said Goldie was fine. However; after a few months Goldie's situation got worse. I made this camapaign after recalling a similar campaign done by a cat youtubers. I was in a very desperate situation and hoped people could help me.

I am the firstborn of a middle-waged family in the Philippines whereas stray cats are everywhere, kittens are abandoned and where poor people cant afford or doesn't even know about veterinary care for their cats/dogs. My family and relatives doesn't really care that much about animals as they have more important things to spend money on. Even the one who took Goldie in our house just abandoned her, so I took it upon myself to try and provide her basic needs. I just became aware of everything I should and can do for Goldie this year. When I'm already 16. I didn't even know about groups where you can rehome cats before I made this campaign.

Part of her medical reciepts.

So I made this and asked for help, I took Goldie to the vet immediately after I got the first donation I even had to leave a balance or kind of like a debt you would pay at a later date bacause it wasnt enough. I comented on several youtube videos and even messaged pages whom I thought would help me. It was a strike of luck for me to be noticed in one of the youtube videos I comented on and people's support just kept on pouring Goldie was able to continue her medication. But I was always kinda sensitive I felt bad for people leaving such negative comments on such a lovely video, I do understand and appreciate critisisms, but hateful comments just bacame too hard for me to handle so I stopped replying.

I also stoped posting on youtube as our internet connection got cut off. During the first few visits of Goldie at the vet, the vet said that she had worms and several sessions of deworming took a huge part of the money. I also purchased many of Goldie's needs through that money like her foods, carrier and several vitamins. In months, Goldie was properly recovering until one day, she stopped eating and refused to be touched. I was panicing I asked my mom to come with me to a different vet cuz the first one just wasn't able to detect Goldie's illness accurately, as she looked like she's feeling bad, during that day. I took her to a different vet and they found out through a blood test that she had an infection in her ovary, I didn't even know about spaying till this year, no one was there to tell me nor guide me. I haven't thought about spaying her that time because of her situation and Im afraid thatit'll harm her. The vet gave Goldie antibiotics and several tablets assupplements/vitamins for her liver.

Her belly shrunk 2x its original size! Also, sorry for blurry photos.

I really did want to keep Goldie. I swear. I even tried doing an online art shop that didnt really work out. I did apply to fastfood chains but many are not accepting underaged students. I tried the McDonalds near our area but it seemed like during this season all McDonalds have enough workers as there are not much customers in fastfood chains at this time of the year. It also became a huge blow when my mom decided to separate from my dad, because of several issues. One being that my dad is earning a lot of money but not a cent reaches our pockets. My mom had to borrow a huge amount of money for giving us a new space to live in. I am even an exam student and will be a college student by August next year, so I plan to save as much money as I can. Mind that this all happened at the end of May.

I realized that right now I can't prioritize Goldie because I have to help my family. I keep thinking about what would happen if she suddenly becomes ill again so I had to rehome her. The person who got her was a nice lady. They have severaly cats in their house and it seems like they are living a good life. I hope Goldie enjoys her new home and I want to thank you guys, for helping me get Goldie veterinary care. Though it still makes me cry, I feel very happy that Goldie is now living in with a family that can help her with her needs. Who knows, one day if I become a more financially stable person and if her new owner approves, I can have her in my arms again. Right now, what matters most to me is that Goldie is in a good and stable environment. Thank you very much, I can't fully express my gratitude to everyone who helped my helpess self and the little bundle of joy that Goldie is.

P.s. I don't know why that photo is upside down.

a few days ago, I posted in a group asking if anyone would like to take Goldie,in hopes to put her on a better place where she can live more comfortably. I realized I should've done that in the first place because there will always be people willing to help. But I was too sellfish and I wanted to keep her despit the challenges. The day before yesterday someone reached out to me and asked if she could take Goldie and continue her medication there. I agreed because it seemed like she can raise her perfectly fine, and right now our family is in a really tight place with my parents splitting up and everything. Tomorrow we will be meeting up and Goldie will start living in a better place. I will also bring all her medications and reciepts from the vet so that her new owner won't have a hard time guessing her previous medications. I will keep you updated and after, stop this campaign, I will also post a few of Goldie's medical reciepts so that you can see, I'm not very sure if I kept all of them but I will be uploading them on my last update here. I really cant upload on youtube because we dont have wifi anymore and I dont have the editing tool anymore. I will delete all of the videos but keep the links and comments where I will thank people also, so that people can still see Goldie's progress. This is a trully heartbreaking situation, I feel sad having to give Goldie away when I feel like I'm just almost a year away from becoming an adult and possibly having enough money to keep her. I feel helpless but I know that this is what Goldie needs the most right now. Me as well, I realized that my mom will have a hard time taking care of us by herself and as the first born, I should help her, especially since I'm becoming a college student next year. So I will let Goldie go.

I'm still looking for a person willing to take care off Goldie, in the mean time I am waiting for calls from places I've submitted my resume to, I'm also going to ask my mom to accompany me in looking for a job. She finally let me after we found out that mcDonalds accepts students as part timers also since we'll be having changes in our financial status since she's splitting up with my father, we still have to file a few papers to get my dad to give us monthly allowance. We'll be living in a budget a bit more but only for a few months before mom gets a raise in her sallary, still I think its important for me to help. I am having a hard time finding fb groups that rehome cats with enough people especially since many are almost inactive already, in the mean time, I'm going to ask mom to let Goldie stay with us. She's doig vey well right now, she's playing a lot and her poop is also nice, but she wasn't able to finish taking her meds she still needs about 20 tablets. But I can probably afford to buy her that soon since classes are starting anyway. A huge part of the money I've gotten from here was spent on her last medication (worms) when in fact when I took her to a different vet, they told me it was only natural for her to have worms at that time since she gave birth and some degree of infection does happen, but the main problem was actually the infection itself so Goldie took her aantibiotics nd her poop became better and her tummy shrunk, the one she hasnt completed taking yet was the I think, vitamin for her liver as I've shown the rates rise as well during the last update.

Today Goldie was not feeling well. She hid under my bed and wouldn't go out even to eat. Fortunately I managed to get her out and bring her with me to the vet.

I spent a part of the money you've donated on this carrier. Anyway, I managed to bring her thouh there was the fear of raining. On the way she seem to have gotten a bit better but when we arrived she got mad at the vet because she was scared of the dogs

I don't know why everytime I upload that photo is upside down. Anyway, she wouldn't comeout of the carrier and they had to put on a leash on her because she was really angry. We spent about 30 minutes of her getting grumpy whenever she is touched. The vet said that her belly was not bloated because bloating means air is inside and in Goldie's case water is inside. Many factors can be the cause of her swollen belly, the vet said, they had to run a blood test to see the problem and that used up almost all of the money we had. Only about 5 dollars is left. And we still have to come back becayse if she doesn't get better she may need to have an x-ray. Just to find out what the problem is. I hope you could share this to people who you think would be qilling to help. I'm asking my relatives if they know jobs they can reffer me to. My mom refyses to let me work a part time job at a fast food chain because I am an exam student. For now, I'm still doing my best, I hope you could help me,thank you very much.

As I told you, Goldie was doing very well these past few days, but earlier today she suddenly started having diarrhea again she also puked the food she ate earlier. I am very worried about her condition is just because she refuses to come out from under the bed. My mom and I are planning to take her to the vet today. I'll be using the last few money from this campaign for his visit so I hope you could help me get donations again by sharing this campaign. Thank you very much, and I'll update you very soon.

I am very worried about wether her condition is just because of a change in her diet or its something worse. My mom and I are taking her to the vet today. I'll be using the last few money from this campaign for his visit so I hope you could help me get donations again by sharing this campaign. Goldie refuses to leave under the bed but I am going to get her out of there and take her to the vet, this is also a very crucial time, elections are coming and I dont know if clinics will continue operating so, I have to take her to the vet fast.

I got to borrow my mom's phone so I can show you clear images of Goldie while she's playing, hoping that it could help put a smile on your face. In this photo she is already resting from running around.

She's chasing her toy in this photo. Goldie has been doing pretty well! That's why I decided put off her vet visit, but when she feels bad I'll take her there again. There's still a little bit of bloating, if you can see in her first photo, but part of it is also because she just ate. I just bought her food and a from the money you've given us, for now, she's taking vitamins. I'm still keeping a part of the money and once she's fully recovered I'll show the before and after and her process, through an update I really am having a hard time uploading a video because first, our internet connection has been disconnected and it takes a lot of data making those videos and two as I've told that gmail adress is the one I use for important updates in my organization and school and the important notifications are getting burried, I'll probably private all the videos I've uploaded once Goldie has fully recovered which I think would be very soon, I didnt post about her to bring attention to that channel, I was hoping I could bring attention for her using those Youtube videos, but I will still keep the comment to thank the people who got involved and prayed for Goldie and link this so that they can see the updates, or make a post on the channel about how I posted updates here.

Today, Goldie is still healing. I'm still seeing the results of her deworming and it is noticable how her belly shrunk from its initial size, especially if you saw her old photos.

now it really just seems like an aftermath of her giving birth. Of course, I'm still observing her. The money that I got from this campaign was very helpful for us. I still have some money left and like I said, it will be my budget for her food this summer. If ever I observe something wrong with Goldie I'll take her to the vet with the few remaining money. I might have to borrow some from my mom if things get worse, I just hope it doesn't and I'm kinda thinking that Goldie will be alright! I now have an online shop as I've mentioned last time. I'm not sure if it's available for overseas buyers but if you're intrested just check out the shop 'AniyaArts' on shopee.com. I am still finding ways to send overseas packages so that I can open my own etsy shop but right now I am into making tiny commissions for friends and family if you'd like I could do one for you just comment down bellow! It would really help us out. I am also making a piece for a competition and I hope that I win because I'm planning to save some money to make Goldie a cat tree. Of course a huge percent of the money will be saved so when the time comes that she'll need it again, i have money to spend. Our house is in a bit of a chaos right now because my mom is thinking about splitting up with my father because he hasn't been providing for our needs properly but I'm hoping that we would get monthly allowance from him for our expenses. I'm also taking my college entrance exam this November, I'm hoping to get a scholarship so that I can give my family a comfortable life as well. I am earning a bit of money every now and then so I hope it eases your worries about us. I'm still finding ways to gain enough but I know I'll get there someday. Thank you for all the support and care you've given me and my cat. I'll give you an update when I have something to share about Goldie's progress and I hope everything turns out well.

I finally got the opportunity to upload this picture of Goldie that I took two days ago. You can see that her belly has become smaller! Of course her treatment is still ongoing but she has gained a lot of weight though it's not very obvious in this photo. Shes also very active and if I remember correctly, I took that when she was resting from running around. Overall she's feeling better now but still has to drink deworming medicine every once in a while to make sure that her belly is free from worms.

Hi, earlier today Goldie took a dewormer again. I've noticed that she's still a bit bloated sometimes especially after eating and made her drink the medicine that the vet gave her previously. She's better now. She's very active and she also eats a LOT. Part of it may be because she still has a few worms in her belly. Don't worry, I'm keeping a close eye on her to monitor if her behavior changes. I still have a bit of money left from this campaign in case of emergency and as budget for her needs this summer (I don't have monthly allowance my parents just gives me money everytime I go to school). But I am currently working on some things I plan to sell online! As I told you I plan on opening up an etsy shop, well, I still haven't opened a shop because I'm still working on it. But I am making homemade watercolor sketchbooks or journals right now that I plan to sell locally! It's a bit easier because I have someone I know who sells on that website (shopee) so I can ask for help. It is really tough finding an extra job or even getting paid by doing errands here in our country. Most jobs are for males (yes, that's who they're looking for) and people of the legal age which is 18, but I'm still sixteen so... it's really tough. We don't even have people we know who are looking for part-timers. So right now, I'm doing my best based of what I can do. I rushed to make this campaign at that time because Goldie's condition was very alarming and sudden. But now I am doing my best to be prepared next time.

Also, I'm sorry I'm having troubles updating, as I've said in a past update our internet connection has been cut off and it's harder to update here let alone on youtube. I'll keep this campaign running just until Goldie's condition becomes more stable. Thank you very much to all who supported and cared for us. I'll try to upload a thank you video once everything becomes calmer.

Hello! I'm sorry to hear about Goldie's sickness. I'm afraid I can't give much, but I hope this helps, at least just a little bit. I too am a student with a cat. She had a tooth infection years ago, and I remember hard it was to pay for the treatment as a younger student. You are not alone.
