My name is Laura and I was accepted at Drexel University, in their Computer Science course as well as in the Honors Program and in the Accelerated Degree Program.
To attend this prestigious university was my dream and I have put a really great deal of effort, time, sacrifices and money into it and in the end, I did one step: I have been admitted.
I love the computer science field since the third grade when my mother took me to an Informatics Club. This is what I want to do in my life: write code for solving different tasks in order to improve the humans' lives.
BUT, a big shadow is covering my happiness: for I can attend the university, I have to pay $31,274, money which my single parent family can’t pay. Because my father left us from 10 years now, my mother is really struggling to raise us, me and my 17-year brother, but she can’t bring this amount of money no matter how much she works.
To help my mother, I am also working during the summers, and this is how I could have the money to apply to university. During the school year, I am a volunteer at the Social Care Center where I teach the children who don’t have parents, mathematics. At the center I am like a mother: I discuss with the kids about their dreams, their fears and I keep their hopes up, trying to learn them that they can be whatever they want to be if they work hard enough for it. All my life my mother has told me that!
Now, I have worked very hard for I fulfill all the requirements of an admittance process.
Please help me to make the second step in order to achieve my dream: donate any amount you can for I can pay the tuition expenses.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my life dream! Thank you for any donation made toward my further education.
