My name is Robert Muriithi. I am a 28 years old Kenyan. In September of 2015 I went to work in Turkana, Kenya as a volunteer teacher where we started a school called Losan primary school. Losan primary school is located in lorugum constituency Turkana county.
Back then we were teaching from under the shades of tress because there were no classrooms. We started as 3 teachers with 17 students. In a matter of one month, children started flocking to our classes under the tress and that is when we realized we needed to do more.
We approached well-wishers and were able to build one classroom with iron sheets. The class was so hot and we knew our journey had just begun. We continued sourcing for funds against all olds and we have so far been able to build two classrooms which are not even enough since the number of pupils has risen to 274 and more waiting to join.
The school has only two pit latrines one for boys and the other one for girls which is a huge challenge. Lack of water is the other challenge we are facing since the kids go to fetch water after school meaning that time meant for school is lost.
We need funding so that we can build more classrooms, dig a borehole and more latrines, pay our teachers whose number has risen to 7 also hire more teachers so that these kids can have quality education. Our target is to raise 30,00 USD which will go a long way in helping these kids better their future. Remember they are just kids and without you and me their dream will never be realised. We all need someone to be a blessing to us and this is our chance to be blessing to them.
You and me can make this possible. Let us stand with these kids, let us give them a future.
Thank you for your assistance!
God bless you all.
