We are working toward shipping a 40' intermodal unit (container) to Cebu City on Cebu island in the Philippines. We are the sponsoring congregation for Cebu Bible College in Cebu City. The donated goods that are going in the container are to benefit not only Cebu Bible College (CBC), but also Hope for Tomorrow (HFT), 818 Ministry and at least seven church plants in and around Cebu City.
One of our former elders is now the director of CBC. His daughter and her husband (a native Filipino minster) head up HFT, which is a ministry aimed toward getting children an education (something that is much more difficult for them than it is for us in the USA). An instructor at CBC and his wife head up the 818 Ministry which is working with the street kids in Cebu City.
We'll have enough "stuff" to fill the container, but need to raise the funds to cover the cost of shipping supplies, the actual cost of shipping, and to cover Filipine customs fees.
We also have extended ourselves and purchased 25 computers to help outfit CBC and the native ministers that are working around Cebu island. This has added $1,550 to our costs above what we had originally planned. This was too good of an opportunity to turn down. We've made the purchase based on the faith that God will provide.
We are working on several different fundraising ideas and avenues to raise the necessary funds. We give God the credit for all He provides, and we thank anyone who wishes to be involved in helping see this container project successfully get to the Filipine people.
