Two years back, I was the one seeking for financial assistance as I badly needed a quite expensive heart procedure so I could continue living a colorful life and my kids won’t have to lose their mother…I am Dee Jai, a single mother of four children, a painter, a renowned artist (here in Bicol), a community volunteer and I am once again knocking on your doors not for my heart... but for the love of my life.

Achilles John Narvaez, we fondly call PEEWEE, is my partner in all crimes, my bestfriend in all parts of the universe and the one who took really reaaaaally good care of me when I was soooo sick and my world has fallen apart. My once dysfunctional heart solely belongs to him. But as it turns out, my hero will also be going through a rough obstacle that has caught us absolutely off-guard! Peewee has just been recently diagnosed with stage 4 Colon Cancer and he is only 38 years old...

According to his doctors though, he still got a good chance in winning over the big C as we all should know, Colon cancer is significantly treatable and his young age is a huge positive factor in this battle. Upon learning his condition on the first week of cold March, our world truly crumbled as we have just been starting to settle down and getting the hang of my newly functional heart (I have just started to warm up in my easel once again and get back into business). We couldn’t believe what we were hearing! It was another blackhole gnawing at me and all I could think of was, how could we win this if we aren’t even prepared pocket-wise. With the treatment plan laid down on the table, we knew it’s going to be costly…and I also knew that THAT is what making him feel more anxious and sad to say, hopeless…

For Peewee to have a better chance in this fight, his Oncologist opted for him to undergo 8 sessions of Chemotherapy. The first 3 sessions before proceeding for Surgery (Low Anterior Resection), then another 5 Chemo sessions afterwhich. Each session of Chemotherapy costs 28,000 Pesos (Chemo IV and 70 Chemo Pills) and the Surgery will cost 150 to 200,000 Pesos.

It devastates me to see him overstrung with all these expenses on top of his utmost fear of pain and death…Even without words, I can utterly imagine how troubled and clouded his mind is right now. And all I could think of is to lessen his burden by once again, requesting for financial aid and support from friends, family, concerned parties and maybe to you?

You see, Peewee loves life! He has the widest smile I know and a severely infectious laughter when one of his crazy, wacky ideas get the better of him! He is a photographer, a graphic artist, my business partner, a very affectionate son, a protective brother, a friend to many and the sweetest most compassionate lover there is. Moreover, Peewee isn’t the father of my kids but he would go the extra mile in helping me provide for them. He nurtured them like his own. And we wouldn’t want to lose another father figure in the household...he means everything to us!!

My biggest advocacy as a (Heart) survivor and an Artist is POSITIVITY and GRATITUDE by “paying it forward,” so Peewee and I go hand in hand in organizing relief operations, Charity events, free Art workshops and interesting community activities that usually attracts those who need inspiration... We prioritize people in dire need, people with disability, aspiring creatives and the youngsters. We try to pay our blessings forward as much as we can for our faith in humanity is ceaseless!

And I believe that if Peewee survives this, I know his life will certainly change for the best and we will able to touch more lives and engage in more humanitarian campaigns as we have always been. So please…please include us in your prayers and faithful petitions. And do consider my appeal to aid his quality treatment. Any form of help from you will be highly appreciated. I will be beyond grateful…

Very Truly Yours,

DeeJai
