PAWS – Portugal Animal Welfare and Survival

I’m an animal lover and I’m currently starting a project that involves the creation of a nonprofit Association of Animal Protection. Unfortunately, in Portugal, abandonment and mistreatment of animals has increased in recent years. Allergies, vacation, birth of a child, behavior problems, poor performance in hunting and economic difficulties are the various reasons that lead owners to abandon their pets. Portuguese legislation is also not appropriate to this situation and current reality. Therefore, it is urgent to sensitize society and protect all those who gives us everything without asking anything in return.

 

The main objectives with the creation of this Association are:

- Support institutions that are intended to accommodate the stray animals, promote their vaccinations, deworming, spaying and consequent control of the animal population.

- Undertake and support initiatives to improve the quality of life of needy families who have pets in their care, thus promoting the fight against abandonment of animals.

- Promote, foster and develop initiatives to raise awareness and educate the public, promoting and supporting other associations in organizing events or other initiatives related to the purposes of the association.

- Promote, foster and develop initiatives for the responsible adoption of abandoned animals

 

What we need:

- Purchase food for animals

- Acquire vehicles for collection and transport of animals and food

- Acquire land and build a shelter for animals

 

We believe that food is a basic right of all sentient beings and that it is up to each of us to help those who can’t get food for themselves, jeopardizing their survival.

 

We know that the institutions of animal support, receive increasingly appeals from families with serious economic difficulties, so they have no way to properly feed their pets. Another problem is the Associations who struggle daily to feed all the animals they have in their care.

 

We have as one of our main goals to help these families and these associations, but travel costs to ensure delivery of feed in its destination, make it increasingly difficult and expensive.

 

PAWS - Portugal Animal Welfare and Survival , is a nonprofit association , which survives only thanks to donations from people and the work of volunteers who believe in the importance of our work. Our resources are limited and, much as we want, we can’t meet all the cases we encounter. We need all kind of support you can give us.
