Dear Respected Donors and Supporters,

I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits. I am writing to share my personal story and to announce the establishment of the "Paulius Brazinskas Charity and Support Fund," which aims to accelerate my ongoing journey of recovery.

On April 10, 2018, I endured a life-altering incident under unforeseen circumstances, where I suffered an attack that resulted in a severe stab wound to my heart. Swift medical intervention at the esteemed Klaipeda University Hospital led to a critical surgery, though the aftermath proved challenging. Following the procedure, I required assisted breathing and was placed in an artificial coma for a duration of 13 days. Upon regaining consciousness, I found myself grappling with memory loss and the inability to navigate independently, with complete vision loss in both eyes.

As part of my diagnosis, medical experts identified anoxic brain contravention, which significantly affected various aspects of my cognitive and physical capabilities. My rehabilitation journey commenced at the renowned Palanga rehab hospital, where skilled kinesitherapists and occupational therapists worked diligently to address my posture and fine motor skills. The recovery process included the creation of a splint to straighten my fingers, as my right arm had become constrained and rigid, causing considerable discomfort.

Throughout the rehabilitation program, noteworthy improvements were observed in my posture, with a slight realignment of my body. However, spastic movements in my arms persisted, while speech therapy played a crucial role in enhancing my ability to articulate single sounds and construct basic words. Nevertheless, articulation remained challenging due to restricted breathing.

Subsequently, with the invaluable support of family and friends, I was fortunate enough to participate in a psycho-emotional and physical training program administered by the esteemed Dolphin Therapy Center of the Lithuanian Maritime Museum. This undertaking proved instrumental in enhancing my vision, enabling me to distinguish intense light and vivid colors. Moreover, my strength and endurance exhibited marked improvement.

At the onset of 2019, another rehabilitation phase commenced, wherein prescribed medicines played a pivotal role in restoring pelvic function. While progress was achieved in this area, swallowing difficulties persisted, necessitating a prolonged period of consuming blended food. Encouragingly, speech improvements were observed once again, enabling me to enunciate previously challenging letters like l, g, r, c, and h.

To ensure continuity in my rehabilitation, I engaged the services of a dedicated physical therapist and masseur, who provided invaluable support for over a year.

In August 2019, a left ankle stabilization surgery, partially funded, significantly enhanced my mobility and walking ability.

Subsequent medical assessments, including an MRI conducted in September 2020, indicated no deterioration in my condition.

In June 2021, my diagnosis was updated to spastic tetraplegia, necessitating ongoing care and specialized therapies. Embracing a holistic approach, I began consulting a neurologist-osteopath in Vilnius. Positive developments were noticed, particularly in heightened sensitivity to light, a growing ability to distinguish varying colors and shades, and the progress of limb motility through prescribed homeopathic remedies. I also engaged the expertise of an acupuncture and acupressure specialist, leading to notable reductions in hand spasticity and improved gaze concentration.

Despite the slow pace, the recovery process has been both perceptible and effective, enabling me to accomplish much more than I could have envisioned before these interventions. My comfort levels have improved, and my range of motion has significantly expanded. I retain a fervent hope of eventually gaining the ability to discern not only colors, light, darkness, and shadows but also the contours and shapes of objects. Moreover, achieving full control of both hands remains a cherished goal.

At present, my journey necessitates regular support from a physiotherapist and masseur, though, regrettably, the financial resources available to my family are limited.

In view of these circumstances, I have taken the initiative to establish the "Paulius Brazinskas Charity and Support Fund" to expedite my recovery. This fund is an essential catalyst that will empower me to overcome these challenges more rapidly.

If you would like to contribute to my cause, no matter the amount, your benevolence will directly impact my recovery and foster a sense of hope and independence. Kindly find the fund's requisites below:
