Papua Audio Heritage

The Papua Audio Heritage Program or PAH is a simple attempt to save and preserve the Papuan tradition. As a born and raised Papuan, I see changes. Changes coming from the outside and also changes coming from within. In the modern world people tend to gradually abandon the cultural side. Music, dance, recitation, mantras, religious ceremonies, chants, are part of the cultural side which began to be forgotten.

As a teacher, musician and fellow Papuan, I am always and very much concerned about it.

If I am given this opportunity I would like to record Papua's most remote in-lands folk songs and hymns.

The goal is to set up an audio library that can be used as a cultural study center, for educational and scientific purposes. PAH shall be working with schools introducing these recordings as an attempt to preserve Papua's songs and hymns to our children and grandchildren.
