Our brother Hugo is in a coma in another country

Hugo decided to travel around Europe in 2022. After 6 months on the road, he went to Porto and fell in love with the city. He decided to stay and found a job at a cultural space; he loved his work and his life in Porto.

On the 20th of November, his family recived a call from the Hospital Santo Antonio, Porto, Portugal, asking them to go urgently, Hugo was diagnosed with Tuberculous Meningitis brain infection (TBM) and was kept an induced coma for a week to fight the infection. He rested in coma after the medications were withdrawn to see if he would wake up, but the brain damage was irreparable. Unfortunately, the infection couldn't be stopped. He is now in coma, in a vegetative state, kept alive by machines.

His sister and father traveled from Chile on Dec 2nd and have been with him since.

The doctors do not know how long he will be in a coma before he rests, and his family needs financial support to accompany him in his final weeks or months , pay his medical bills, cremation, taxes and other necessities in Portugal.
