Operation Bijou: Help us pull off a small miracle

Two weeks ago, our hearts were heavy with despair as we feared Bijou, our beloved senior girl, would never find her happy ending. Abandoned on the streets, she was a fragile soul, reduced to skin and bones, yearning for human connection.

We believe Bijou once had a loving owner, but when fate took them away, heartless hands left her to fend for herself. In the shelter, she cried out in anguish, yearning for the warmth of a human touch.

As we delved into Bijou's health, our worries deepened. Late-stage heart disease and a shadow in her lungs painted a grim picture. We held our breath as a CT scan was performed, fearing the worst. But, miraculously, there was no cancer in her lungs, only a few lumps that need removal and further examination.

The cost of these life-saving measures is significant, but we knew we couldn't give up on Bijou. We knew that her heavy medical needs would make finding a forever home a near-impossible task. Our desperate pleas for a foster home went unanswered, and it broke our hearts to hear her cries from behind those cold kennel bars.

Then, the miracle we had been praying for happened. A remarkable lady in the UK fell in love with Bijou's spirit and offered her a home, despite the financial commitment and the challenges ahead. She's already contributed to Bijou's medical costs, but we need your help to cover the rest, including her flight to her new forever home.

As we write this, Bijou is undergoing surgery to remove those lumps, and they'll be sent for biopsy. But Operation Bijou doesn't end there. Due to her heart condition, age, and separation anxiety, a cargo flight is out of the question. Instead, one of our team members will travel with Bijou in cabin to Europe. Then, two incredible ladies, whom we're proud to call friends, will drive all the way from the UK to collect us and take us to Bijou's new home.

Some may call us crazy, but for us, it's a small price to pay to offer this sweet soul a chance at love and safety in her twilight years. If you meet Bijou, it'll only take a few seconds to understand why we're doing this. She's worth every effort, every penny, and every mile of this journey.

Please, join us in Operation Bijou. Help us bring this beacon of hope to a deserving senior dog who has known far too much hardship in her lifetime.
