It was only this September when our beloved father passed due to cancer, and our family was still recuperating at the moment in all aspects - emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially. While we are still on recovery stage, another problem came across last October 16, 2019, when we rushed our 73 year old mother, Emilia Ortiz, to the Emergency Room and got admitted to the hospital (Sacred Heart Hospital in Malolos, Bulacan). She was diagnosed with “Sepsis,” a serious condition of infection resulting from the presence of harmful microorganisms in the blood or other tissues and the body’s response to their presence, potentially leading to the malfunctioning of various organs, shock, and death.
My mother is in critical condition since the infection spreads out in the whole body and her BP was down to 60/40 and with very poor nutrition — and this circumstances resorted her doctors to sent her to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) last Thursday, October 17. It so much blessing that the infection has not reached yet the heart and brain of my mother (Praise God!), giving us a chance that my mother could still be healed and recover from illness.
She was immediately advised for blood transfusion (consumed 3 bags) and antibiotics for medication. The antibiotics to treat Sepsis costs us Php20,000/day and that would be for 7 days (total cost is Php140,000). Expense on Antibiotic alone is already a big burden plus add more the room, doctors’ fee, the procedures (she also needs to undergo shockwave or surgery due to big kidney stone) and all other medicines given to her.
The said hospital has a policy of daily basis payment - everyday we are receiving a collection letter and everyday we are required to pay. Since day 1, the hospital is collecting Php40,000 everyday (doctors’ fee excluded yet) and this system makes our life more difficult because we struggle to raise money everyday.
We want to celebrate more Christmas and New Years with our mother and please help us, our family, to make this happen. Our family needs financial help to sustain the treatment and medication of this woman who raised and loved us unconditionally.
May you and your family be blessed for a generous heart!
