Nutrition, Care and Support for Children under 5 years

Charity Centre for Children and Youth Development is non-governmental organization concerned with children's welfare in Solwezi and Kasempa district of Zambia. The project will provide food, medicine and life saving package for mothers and care givers in the community. The project will focus on HIV+ and malnurished children. The health care package will include, weekly home visit, psycosocial counseling, medicine adherence and daily routing medical followups. Objectives of the organisation: Promoting and encouraging education to families affected by HIV/AIDS especially orphans left through provision of school fees, uniforms, scholastic materials to re-enter formal schoolings. To strengthen other public health activities such as nutrition programs, family planning, resettlement, rehabilitation of addicts, HIV support programs and more others. Initiating income generating activities that can help raise funds for the scholastic items of the disadvantaged children and other vulnerable members of society. Project activities: Conducting Home Visits for all children to ensure compliance with medical treatment and counselling Provide nutritional support (including high protein soy supplements) to HIV infected children Training 50 families in nutrition and health care for under five children Monitoring health and effectiveness of the services delivered in Solwezi district
