Campaign Story
I am doing my nursing placement in Tanzania at the end of this semester and would like to raise some money for supplies. At the moment there is a huge cholera outbreak happening in Tanzania, with infected drinking water causing thousands of fatalities. Our aim is to educate local communities in the importance of hygiene, nutrition and basic prevention of illness.
As students, our group has come up with many different ideas to implement this education, but we also need the funding in order to buy supplies for these communities to put what they've learnt into practice.
As well as providing primary healthcare in a rural community, we're going to be doing placements in the main national hospitals of Dar Es Salaam, for which we need to take our own nursing supplies (gloves, dressings, antibacterials etc).
Any donations would be so so appreciated, and any resources we don't use will be donated in Tanzania :-)
Thanks!

sanitary education
Update posted by Daniella Gardner at 05:00 amAt this stage, it is still yet to be confirmed, but a volunteer company called 'Days for Girls' is willing to donate 50 sanitary packs for us to take with us to Tanzania. Each pack weighs 400g and allows 1 woman enough sanitary supplies to last them 2 years of
rehydration solution
Update posted by Daniella Gardner at 04:55 amAs students, we will be teaching older members of the community how to make a simple rehydration solution for those suffering from dehydration due to excessive vomitting/diarrhoea. This will include simple accessible ingredients such as salt, sugar and water.
Hand Hygiene
Update posted by Daniella Gardner at 04:45 amHand hygiene is going to be one of our major focuses. By supplying soap, building a 'tippy tap' in the community, and educating the people - we are hoping to reduce the spread of infectious diseases within the community.
