About Nanong, Our Hometown

Hi! My Dear Friends,

Nanong is the name of our village in a very remote place, located in the far east of Bhutan, where 62 households live currently.  All the local residents are religious and faithful in noble cause and deed.  We don’t have any cash income and solely rely on paddy as our main crop.  Just recently, new farm road came up that connects Nanong and Pemagatshel, which is the main district town.  It’s a three-hour drive by vehicle from Pemagatshel. 

 

Nanong until Today

There has been no temple until now and we have been facing lot of difficulties during auspicious days, as there are no monks to perform religious activities and no spiritual teacher indeed who can guide us, though we are spiritual.  This is the reason that we are indeed in urgent need of one public temple here, where we can organize religious activities such as ritual puja, dharma teachings and so forth.

 

7-member Committee

To look after the construction work, we have formed and registered a seven-member-committee (registration no.: DCHS_DCO/O-19-2012-2013/535) and few others more as volunteers with the government.

 

Our Goal

Due to lack of enough funds, we are looking forward to generous people like you, who can support us by donating or sharing with your family and friends.  We need to raise almost two hundred thousand US dollars or equivalent to build the temple and hostel for monks successfully.  All the funds will go to support the construction of nanong temple, which is meant for the benefit of nanong residents.

Everybody would know that the temple is not an individual home, but instead it’s a place of faith, dwelling place of monks, place where monks pray for the benefit all sentient beings.  It’s also a place to where faithful devotees make a visit and worship Enlightened Ones, accumulate merits by offering respect; dedicate and make prayers for the lived and deceased ones.  So we assure every donor that we will honor and pray for your well-being and prosperity at all times.  May every obstacle be pacified and all your wishes are fulfilled.  We will also engrave your name on a stone wall and erect it beside the temple.  This is for those who have given maximum donations.

  

You will be Informed

All donors who have even donated little will be updated personally by email or on our facebook profile and here too.  We will inform you with latest updates and photographs, what and how it’s going on with the construction, and also the financial accounts of the temple construction including how your donation has been used.

Reward Package Details

Please select the amount you like to donate, minimum USD 1.00 to Maximum USD 10,000.00 or equivalent in other currencies.  Once you have donated, please let us know soon by email, so we will send you a reward package by Fedex, EMS or other services.  All the reward package items will be totally made in Bhutan and hence they will be Bhutanese traditional.  At the end of reward item lists, we are mentioning ‘etc’, which means we may send other items equivalent to the listed items, if listed items are not available in the market. 

 

Please note:

We can ship only one item against each donation received that’s based on the amount of donation. 

 

1. Basic Reward Level:

 a. USD 1 – 30 : You will receive ecards. (your email required)

 b. 31 – 100 : traditional cards in hard copy.

 c. 101 – 200 :  Traditional printable photographs of Arts. (your email required)

 d. 201 – 300 :  traditional handmade varieties of incense sticks in box.

 e. 301 – 500 : Traditional handmade varieties of incense sticks in package or shirt printed with the word "BHUTAN" or National flag of Bhutan, or etc.

 

2. Silver Reward Level:

 a. 501 – 700 : Traditional handmade personal items such as wallets or pencil bags, ladies mini bag, Royal wedding currency notes, ladies shovel, or etc.

 b. 701 – 1000 : Rosary beads known as mala or various bamboo skin-made containers: such as bangchung – a lunch box, palang - a wine vessel made of bamboo and special wood, or etc.

 

3. Golden Reward Level:

 a. 1001 – 5000 :  a special wooden made curry-cup in a special shape or a lunch box made of special wood, traditional clothes for sofa and coffee table, or bed-sheet known as yathra - a fine and thick woven clothe with various patterns, Bhutanese fabric made jacket, or etc.

 

4. Platinum Reward Level:

 a. 5001 – 8000 :  a very thick Bhutanese traditional carpet with beautiful patterns made of wool used over mattress, sofa or in sitting hall, or etc.

 

5. Diamond Reward Level:

 a. 8001 – 10000 :  gold painted thangka with beautiful arts of gods, goddesses or other symbolic forms, or etc.
