Throughout the centuries, women's contributions to the art world have been minimized, their achievements overshadowed, and their legacy forgotten.

Currently, gender inequality unjustly persists, limiting access and visibility for women artists. Global statistics reveal a staggering gap that we need to close together:

  • Only 13% of solo exhibitions in contemporary art museums feature the work of women artists.
  • Artworks created by women sell, on average, for only 32% of the price of their male counterparts.
  • Globally, permanent museum collections contain only around 12% of works created by female artists.
  • Women artists receive fewer awards and recognition; in fact, only 11% of awards granted by major art institutions acknowledge their talent.

* Approximate data obtained from various online sources until January 2022 supports the provided information.

Immerse yourself in an emotional and revolutionary journey through the pages of The Noble Dream of Being an Artist: The Hidden Faces of Art.

In this poignant anthology, light is shed on the stories of 50 women artists from the past through poems inspired by their lives and artistic journeys. Moreover, the book is a literary treasure housing a captivating collection of portraits and works by outstanding and talented contemporary artists, all inspired by the artists we pay tribute to. With passion and creativity in every stroke, these artists have captured the essence and strength of the protagonists, reviving their memories and building a valuable testimony to the relevance and enduring impact of female artists in culture and art.

The Noble Dream of Being an Artist: The Hidden Faces of Art is a cry of resistance, a challenge to break down the walls of invisibility, and a reflection on the importance of inclusion and equality in the world of art.

Because we need to build a path to equity together.

This project is a call to rebuild, forge, and preserve new chapters in the history of art, with more inclusive and just narratives that enrich our collective understanding of art and propel us towards a future where talent knows no gender.

It's time to build a story with all shades and narratives, clearly revealing who the authentic artists have been and appreciating the invaluable role of women in art!

The initial step involved gathering information and unraveling the touching stories of women artists from the past destined to become the protagonists of our book. In the quest for allies on this journey, we came across The Pollination Project Foundation, an entity providing seed funding to individuals driving transformative changes in their communities, cultures, and countries. This support not only offered financial assistance but also instilled in us a renewed determination to carry forward our mission with greater strength.

So far, we have successfully completed the first two steps of our plan, contributing to the construction of a more just and equitable artistic narrative. Now, you are an essential part of the third stage of this thrilling journey: to spread our messageby purchasing the book.

You can support this campaign by tapping the Donate Now button; this way, you'll be placing a pre-order for the book. Additionally, the success of the campaign relies on how many times it is shared with friends, family, colleagues, etc. You can share the personalized link to this campaign (https://assets.gogetfunding.com/noblesuenoartista/)or by tapping the Share with friends button, and we would greatly appreciate it.

The more people join, the further this inspiring message of equality will reach. Together, we'll illuminate the legacy of these wonderful artists and change the narrative in art history. Moreover, you won't just be spreading the work of individual artists; you'll be part of an artistic revolution that transcends borders and builds a future where all talents are recognized, regardless of gender.

Together, we can make art a truly inclusive and diverse space!

Let's unveil the invisible, transform art history, and keep its memory alive!

One of the most significant reasons that practically compelled me to launch this crowdfunding campaign is my strong belief in the importance of sharing these inspiring stories through a tangible book and making my sincere contribution. For me, each printed page represents a living testimony of dedication and courage that deserves to be shared with the world.

A portion of the funds raised will be allocated to the printing of these books, enabling us to carry out this editorial project with the quality and scope that these stories deserve.

Additionally, I openly share a personal dream: to continue my academic studies abroad. Therefore, a portion of the funds will go towards establishing a personal study fund. This fund not only represents the possibility to fulfill my dream of studying abroad, accepting an offered study opportunity given by The University of Edinburgh but also symbolizes my ongoing commitment to learning and contributing to the global artistic community.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart because, with your support, you will nurture the realization of this literary project and pave the way for my personal and academic growth.

We share a fragment of the prologue, a sample of the welcome that Arabella Salaverry, a prominent Costa Rican writer, has created to begin reading this literary work:

The book “The noble dream of being an artist” is presented as a forceful response to this feeling of frustration. A fire to illuminate the profile of so many women creators, and to tell them that there is a place for them in the world, even if recognition is late; to tell them also that other women, in solidarity, have taken on the task of rescuing and sharing the intensity of their profiles, from the image and from the word, with a mandate: to break the siege of discrimination.
