"Night Songs" - with this album I would like to take you on a musical journey through the night landscape. The album will contain 12 nocturnes, i.e. night stories told on the piano. Stories told in a twilight, in a delicate moonlight, in a silence from which sometimes the sounds of the night emerge ...
About me
But let's start from the beginning. My name is Rafal Mokrzycki and I am a pianist. I graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Poland and the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, Austria. I am the winner of the Valletta International Piano Competition in Malta in 2017. In 2019, my debut album "Magical Chopin" was released, which changed my perception of music - I saw how great it is to share your emotions through recordings. After all, you don't always have the opportunity to come to a concert of your favorite artist, right? And the CD "brings" music to your home! This is how my biggest dream appeared - recording an romantic and atmospheric album "Night Songs".
Night Songs
I want my second album to be special. Its main idea is a nocturne - an intimate, romantic, lyrical song of the night. And this is what the whole album will be like - romantic and atmospheric - perfect for long, winter evenings :)
I will record 12 nocturnes by various composers - from Chopin through Respighi to Poulenc. The CD will also include a phonographic premiere, the never-before-recorded Nocturne melodique by a German composer Rudolf Willmers. Romantic stories will be told in a lyrical and intimate way, like Chopin's Nocturne, other times epic, like Respighi's Notturno, and sometimes dramatic, scenic, like Tellefsen's Nocturne. Sometimes the night stories will remain unspoken, but only sketched, sketched with a careless line through which resignation, melancholy and helplessness pierce - as in Poulenc's Nocturne IV (Bal Fantôme - Ball of the Spirit). The album "Night Songs" will be a musical journey through the night world.
Musical journey
Speaking of travels - I have had over 100 performances in 15 countries around the world, even in such amazing places as China and Japan! I also studied abroad for several years. Now, in a time of travel restrictions, I miss these journeys so much; I think so do all of us. That's why, through my second album, I want to take you to various distant places and show you Italy, Norway, France, Ireland and even Brazil with my music!
Fundraising
Unfortunately, recording a CD is extremely expensive. You have to rent a studio, cover costs of a sound director, piano tuner, graphic designer to prepare the album for release and pay for the production of the albums. A small part of the tracks has already been recorded, but I am not able to bear the other very high costs myself. I really care about making my biggest dream come true and that's why I'm asking for your support. Remainig costs are following:- studio (2800 EUR)
- sound engineer (3500 EUR)
- piano tuner (900 EUR)
- release (2800 EUR)
