Campaign Story
Life-Saving Heart Surgery for Charmaine Amurao
Anyone who knows Charmaine also knows she has a big, beautiful heart. But in this case, her kind spirit and generous nature is not enough to see her through. That is because Charmaine is in immediate need of a heart valve replacement to save her life. Diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease in 2019, she needs this surgery to prevent a massive stroke—the kind that has already claimed the life of a relative with the same condition. Due to this illness, in the last three years alone she has been hospitalized twice and rushed to the ER 10 times.
Charmaine urgently needs the generous support of people like you. Though she is already on the Philippine Heart Center’s list for patients who cannot afford to pay, she is more than 1,000th on that list. That is why we—the people who love her so dearly—are asking the community for donations to fund this life-saving surgery, which will cost one million Philippine pesos (US$20,000).
Charmaine is 29 years old and has so much life ahead of her. With your help, she can survive this condition and return to the life she shares with her husband Ferdinand, who is a teacher at Signal Village National High School in Taguig City, Philippines. These days, with her health compromised, Charmaine stays at home, where she tends to a small aquarium. But what she truly loves is to swim—and she longs for the day when she can do so again. And although she is not well enough to work right now, Charmaine dreams of someday putting to use the marketing degree she has earned.
But first, Charmaine needs to have this life-saving surgery. All funds raised by this campaign will go directly toward her heart valve replacement.
We know this is a difficult time for everyone and that many of us have already suffered so much loss over the last two years of the pandemic. Charmaine, her family, and friends are so grateful for any amount of financial support you can give and for spreading the word about her campaign on social media and any other channels. Thank you for your generosity and prayers; may God keep you in His heart.
Sincerely,
Nikki Cisneros
Charmaine’s sister
