Hi everyone who’s reading this. Hope you’re well and thank you for taking the time to go through our campaign.

My name is Monica, and I started this campaign for my husband who has unfortunately been one of the victims of the very recent blast in Beirut, Lebanon.

My husband, Cairo who’s nationality is Lebanese, went to Beirut earlier this year in March to see his family. I was unable to accompany him as I was expecting our second child. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 and the imposed international travel ban, he’s been unable to come back home since then. It’s been very tough few months as I couldn’t work full time due to the pregnancy and the lockdown made the financial situation even worse. Cairo was able to find some part time work in Beirut but times were still pretty tough for us.

But we had some savings from over the years which we decided to use during these times.

But about a week and a half ago, Lebanon saw its worst day as Beirut was shook and wrecked by a horrible blast. Cairo, and his mother were unfortunately very near the Beirut port where the blast happened and were two of the thousands of people who had to be hospitalized.

Cairo’s lungs have been ruptured, and because of falling from a height due to the impact of the blast he’s also suffering from Diffuse Axonal Injury, which is an extremely serious head injury in which there’s no bleeding but it damages the brain cells and also causes swelling in the brain.

Cairo’s mother, Araya is suffering from multiple fractures in her clavicle, hip bone, wrist and fingers and her left femur, along with damage to her lungs as well.

Cairo needs two immediate surgeries for his lungs and his head and my mum in law Araya needs surgery for her femur and hip bone and treatment for her lungs.

We’re a middle class family, who’s been living off of their savings for months now.

We have some little savings left but that’s no where near the medical expenses we have on our way. And as mother of a 3 year old and two month old, it won’t be possible for me to get on full time anytime soon.

It breaks my heart to ask you all in such unprecedented times for everyone, to please help my family.

With the economy of Lebanon falling, Cairo’s family was only approved for a small loan which is not enough.

I sincerely ask you to please help my little family if you can, and also to please spread the word about my campaign.

I in all honesty need your help. I will make sure to keep you all updated about Cairo and his mum Araya

Thank you so much for taking out your time, I hope all of you are doing well and staying safe.
