Need for medical equipments and isolation room to use during COVID19 outbreak

Nikiplus clinic and health promotion program is a medical foundation located in mbarara Uganda. We have been in service for two year and our services are targeting all the people from all the communities on issues that are concerning with their sick bodies and preventive measures of both communicable and non communicable diseases.

We work as a team four medical workers and on full time basis.

During the outbreak of COVID19, We have an increased number of patients(at the average of 15-18) with flu and cough symptoms. This gives most patients fear and they ran to our clinic for both consultation, heath education and possible examination of COVID19. In case we find any patient with complicated signs, we send them to the main regional hospital for COVID19 test. We see this as one of the way that will help to get any patient that will be affected with COVID19 from spreading it to other community members.

As a team, we are committed to serve our community and the nation in fighting such outbreaks which affects massive population.

During this fight, we have encountered some challenges which include;

- We have run short of protective gears like gloves ,masks ,gowns and sanitisers to use for now and next coming months which has put us at risk of COVID19 in case we have a sick person.

-We have no isolation room for the suspected patients with flu and cough symptoms which makes it had to separate them from patients without these signs

-We don't have a PRO body temperature gun forehead thermometer , that doesn't allow touching on patient and ensuring distance.

WHY WE FACE THESE CHALLENGE.

As a private clinic, we have not had any source of funds except support of ourselves and payments some patients make. Though patients pay for the services, it's on low costs because people of this slum community are of low income status. This makes it hard for us and the clinic to keep standing to support on health issues however in need to keep the reputation and spirit of working to improve health, we have to struggle to keep our services.

WAY FORWARD

We are looking for funds which can help us to solve these challenges through the following ways;

- We would like to purchase more of protective gears for the next 6months to keep ourselves and our patients from COVID19.

-We would like to create more room for isolation of patients that come with signs and symptoms of COVID19.

-We would like to buy a PRO body temperature thermometer gun forehead.
