My mother has lung cancer and needs funds for therapy

Hi everyone. I'm Aleksa, I'm 28 years old. My mom has lung cancer again after 14 years. She found it accidentally, on a routine scan after Omicron. Her pulmonologist is prof. dr. Dragana Jovanovic, who specializes in pulmonology and oncology.

After a biopsy, it was confirmed that the cancer in question is the same type as last time - Lung Adenocarcinoma and that it is inoperable for now. Since molecular therapy was ruled out as an option and immunotherapy is only approved in Serbia in the most dire cases of cancer, a Foundation One CDx liquid biopsy was recommended. That is a genomic blood test that analyses 324 genes linked with the appearance of tumors. This can help when deciding whether immunotherapy is applicable and also widens the spectrum of therapeutic options available to patients. The test is organized by Belmedic, a private hospital in Belgrade. The sample is sent to a Foundation Medicine lab in the USA, where they do the analysis.

My mom is a generous person. She’s educated, a journalist – reading a book a week to present it to her readers, but also a writer herself, with many projects in mind. She loves to travel and visit museums. Before she retired due to her last battle with cancer, she was working in the culture field.
