Mom’s Road To Recovery

On the left is my mom, Lia Ramirez. This photo was taken last year when she was brought to the hospital due to her irregular heartbeat. I was working in KL then and surprised her since her birthday was coming up as well.

Early morning (3 AM) on Nov 3, I checked her room and found her lying from a sitting position and her right hand pressing in the cabinet on her footbed. She could not move her left side so I knew something was wrong. I immediately called an ambulance to take her to the hospital. It was then confirmed the she has suffered from an acute stroke on her right brain with hemorrhagic conversion, which is the bleeding of the brain. Due to the stroke, her whole left side has little to no movement and her eyes could not be opened fully, though she was responsive but her speech was slurrish.

Two weeks passed and she is improving, her vitals signs are normal and her BP is becoming stable but there are times still that it is relatively high. But on Nov 16, the nurses noticed that she's not responsive and asleep the whole day, the doctors decided to have another CT scan of the brain and there they found out that she had another stroke on the left side of her brain this time. Up until now, she is not responsive and just asleep the whole day.

She just transferred from the ICU to a private room on Nov 29. Due to almost 3 weeks in the ICU, the running bill is at around P900,000 already. This does not include the professional fees of the doctors. She might be able to come home for the next couple of days once her BP is really stable and continue her medication at home.

With this, we started this funding page to request help from everyone for financial assistance for my mom. Even though I have a stable job, I still could not afford to pay off the whole amount of the hospital bills, since it is just me and my mom, so all the financial burden will be on me. Also, I am also considering the physical therapy that she would be undergoing in the next months.

We have asked financial help from close friends and families and we thank each and everyone for their support, but we still need a bit more to complete the payment.

Lastly, please continue to pray for the complete recovery of my mom. I know that God answers all our prayers and I still believe that miracles do happen and my mom could still overcome this challenge.
