My Lumpy Journey

My name is Mariel Perez from Capas, Tarlac.

My medical journey started when I was 18 years old when I notice that I have small mass in my breast. Fast forward, 2 years later, the bump has grown bigger that merely placing my finger on top of the area of my breast that I can immediately feel it, and the worst case is, this tiny little bump was no longer alone. :(

At that time, we decided to have me check and the doctors recommendation is to remove all the 5 mass in both of my breast. I was in 4th year college at that time and my father was a jeepney driver and we barely make it out of each day. Thankfully, there was a politician that sponsors free surgery in our town and I immediately applied for the sponsorship. The bumps were successfully removed last 2014.

Come the beginning of 2018, I started noticing again that I have bumps on the same spot where they were removed. The bumps are back, taking their original place. :( What is worst is that, last December 2018, I started experiencing painful menstruation that I can barely walk. June 2019 was when I consulted an OB-GYN, I was hopeful that my abdominal pain is just something minor. The OB-GYN instructed me to have an ultrasound. When I got the results, I was devastated. I have a subserous myoma measuring almost 7 centimeter in diameter and an ovarian cyst of 5 centimeter in diameter. I cried, my mother cried, and so does my father. I was heart-breaking to see them cry, but I have to be strong for them. I am the bread winner of my family, what I earn is just enough for a family with 5 members. I do not know what to do. The doctor said that I need to go under surgery (myomectomy) as soon as possible as the myoma is really huge for its size. But I decided to seek other treatment because I do not have fund to pay for the operation. I tried herbal medicines, pills, injectibles, anything that I thought of helping me shrink the myoma and the ovarian cyst. But nothing worked. On my last check up on November 2019, the myoma's size went from 7cm to 10cm, but the ovarian cyst stayed the same in terms of size. But the pain from the ovarian cyst is excruciating. I can't walk, and I can't help crying every time the pain hits me.

My OB-GYN said that we need to remove these two from my body as soon as possible. I have been praying to God to give me miracle to help me go through this journey in my life. The operation would cost more or less Php150,000 according to my doctor.

I am not asking for much, any help from you is very much appreciated. As of now, I am focusing on the myoma and ovarian cyst to be removed since they are growing and there is pain involve. My breast mass is another situation that I have to deal with after my other bumps are removed.
