Mother to an Angel

On the 17th of August, I lost my baby at 40 weeks 3 days stillborn and there is no greater pain than losing a child who was perfectly healthy and one you looked forward to holding. It's been 3 months since and it has not been any easy. But having a strong support system has made the process easier.

In my country, Zambia, talking about and crying over a child that was born but did not live is considered a taboo and many women cover there emotions to avoid being judged by society causing a lot of women to fall into depression and closing up.

Starting this fundraiser is one way to raise awareness on stillbirths and that is okay to talk about our babies.. Even if they where stillborn, they where still born .. I want to help women feel that someone cares about them and understand what they are going through by offering support in any way be if financial or get a little gift as remembrance to a child they didn't take home. This gesture comes as way to support grieving mothers and offer then a form of support.

This will also in turn help in forming support groups where women can be free to express how they are feeling and offer support in that moment. Many women are unable to access centers where they can get this kind of support and I believe taking this kind of support to them will help grieving mothers.
