Monaghan Special Olympics

I never really knew what the true meaning of sport was until I attended a Special Olympics event. The honest and dedicated way that the athletes took part in the games was inspiring. Every participant strove to achieve their best while encouraging their own competitors to do the same. No other sporting event has ever made me feel so privileged just to be to be there. The dedicated work of the Special Olympics support teams is magnificent and all is done voluntarily. I have seen first hand in Monaghan the fantastic work carried out by these wonderful people and I am proud to say that my brother-in-law Mark and my beautiful niece Clare are two of Monaghan's finest special Olympians.

My endeavors to run a Marathon in the month I turn 50 is but a minor endeavor compared to their many achievements but I hope that in doing the run I may raise a few Euro in support of keeping this great work going. Every penny raised will go to the Monaghan Special Olympics.
