Mommy Elvie’s Cancer Fund

We have created this page for our mom Elvira F. Bernardo. Our mom is a very generous person. May it be monetary or not, her heart is really overflowing with love and joy when she helps other people in any way she can. She loves us unconditionally and has sacrificed alot for the family.

In 2015, she was diagnosed with Stage 3A breast cancer. She UNDERWENT LEFT BREAST mastectomy. She was clear for cancer for the past 2 years. But last May 2018, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic liver cancer. She already had 3 cycles of chemo but unfortunately THE CANCER WAS NOT FULLY ERADICATED. She is CURRENTLY confined in the hospital for ALMOST 3 WEEKS already. She had internal bleeding in the esophagus and had band ligation to stop the bleeding. She went unconscious the 2nd day in the hospital and got intubated for 5 days. MAINLY BECAUSE OF HEPATIC ENCEPHALOPATHY, Toxins affect her brain because of liver failure. She had her abdomen drained too because fluids kept accumulating because of the same reason. Multiple tests and meds were given to her to correct imbalances in her body.

As of this moment, my mom’s recovering. She’s out of the ventilator and is conscious. She’s still having speech problems because of encephalopathy. But our mom’s really a fighter. Everyday is actually a miracle that she’s alive. She has gone through alot. But we can see how much she wants to get better.

We are raising funds to pay for her hospital bills and hopefully she can be discharged soon. We will also be needing funds to manage her condition at home especially for her medical expenses, regular checkups and her ongoing needs. We are doing our best to stay positive as we continue to build good memories with her. Our family would like to thank you so much in advance for helping us.
