MOBILITY FOR MY NON-PROFIT

Hey there!

My name is Madalina, I am 22 and I live in Romania. After considering a lot of possibiilities of what I could do in life, I've decided to dedicate my time a non-profit. Of course, that decision didn't make my family happy, but who cares? My parents paid for my degree in Business Admin and they probably expected me to become a Forbes 500 business woman, but I feel that the Divinity might have some other plans for me, as I feel alot more inclined in working in the benefit of my community than worrying about market studies. Besides, running a non-profit still needs some skills, so I guess going to college wasn't such a waste...

So, getting back to my non-profit, let me tell you a bit more about it. The main goal for the organizattion would be to affer access to free support groups to certain categories of people who are really in nedd of help, such as patients with different conditions or accident victims. In my country psychological help can be quite unaccesible, mainly becasue of the high costs. Besides, only few therapists offer the oportunity of group sessions, and when they do it's mainly for addictions or depression only. I also intend to raise funds through various kinds of campaign (from door-to-door and online campaingn and to charity events) in order to support various causes. There are, among others, isolated communities in the countryside that need medical assistance and people who can't afford proper medical care. An awareness campaign to make people donate blood would also be helpful, since in Romania the number of donors is incredibly low. And there's a lot more that would fit just right in here. But it seems that it isn't all that easy to start a non-profit. Especially not when you are young and self-employed in a Eastern European country. I am already raising funds for the start-up process and I am confident that in about one month I'll be ready for the first support group.

But there's one more thing I need. A car. I love walking and I wouldn't mind it. But there are long distances to cover and a lot of time would be saved if I'd be driving instead. Not to mention that I can't go to an official meeting asking a sponsor to place a donation with my non-profit in my comfortable walking shoes. Neither can I walk three miles in stylish high heels. Besides, I'm talking about Romania here. Walking after nightfall is quite risky. And taking the train is not an option either, since not even half of Bucharest is covered by underground lines...  

So, long story short, I need about 3000 Euros for a used car. It won't be fancy and it won't be fast. As long as it takes me safely from point A to point B, it doesn't really matter the make, model or colour.

And if you would help me gain that extra-mobility for my non-profit, I would be forever grateful. Because it's not about making my life comfortable. It's about making the most out of an organization meant to help people in need. Because that's the main reason why you should contribute to my campaign: giving a chance to support to those who need a shoulder. I've been in the position off needing help and no one has been there for me, so I know exactly how it feels...  

I'll make sure that your names get featured on the organization's web site in a special "Thank you!" section and I'll personally write thank you e-mails to all of you. I'll write letters, but they are less eco-friendly, so... And you'll be in the prayers of all those who will benefit from the activity on my non-profit!
