Medical Funds for Alberto’s Rectal Cancer Stage 3

My name is Mary and I have created this fundraising campaign for my friend’s husband, Alberto G. Miñoza who has been diagnosed with Rectal Cancer Stage 3.

Alberto is 51 years old, married with my friend Flordeliz (Deven) Padla Miñoza and they were blessed with 3 lovely children. He was the sole breadwinner of the family as my friend Deven decided to be a housewife to look after the three (3) children.

His sickness started last March 2017 when he had been having urges to go to the toilet every minute and what came out were only mucus and blood. Even if he was able to respond to the call of nature every two days, it was with stone-like bowels. He had his first check-up and the doctor’s finding was just severe constipation and was prescribed to take laxatives. For a month of taking those medicines he didn’t feel better so he had another check-up, and still ended up with the same diagnosis and was given another type of laxative but still there was no effect.

July 2017, the family decided to have him admitted in the hospital for Colonoscopy procedure, and that’s the time they found out about the tumor in his large intestine. He had undergone ileostomy (a procedure to reroute the small intestine), which had turned into a complication and had amoebiasis which perforated his intestines. Exploratory laparotomy was done and after two (2) months of healing, he went through 28 sessions of radio chemo therapy (28 Sept ~ 9 Nov 2017) to reduce the tumor to a size appropriate for surgical removal. They had spent an estimated amount of 600,000 pesos in total.

Due to the shortness of funding, he was only able to have the Low Anterior Resection to remove the tumor by 7 Feb 2018. He has to go through another 6 sessions of chemo-therapy to eradicate the cancer cells remaining in his body and another ileostomy to restore normal bowel movement through his anus.

Currently, he has NOT undergone the needed 6 sessions of chemo-therapy and ileostomy, as funds and financial means had all been exhausted.
