Marie Chris Bretana is from the Philippines, and has been a loyal and valued helper for the last 7 years. In fact, her employer regard her as more of a family member than just a helper. This is why it pains them tremendously to see her suffering from Stage 4 lung cancer, and they are doing everything they can to help her battle it.
Her Stager 4 lung cancer has spread to her pleural fluid. She was admitted to the hospital last Sept 28 until she will be fit to fly back to Philippines in a week or two. She has undergone series of blood tests, scans and chest tube insertion to drain the fluid and air from her lungs. She is still undergoing series of tests and chest X-rays to monitor the fluid from her lungs. Her treatment plan is to stabilize the pneumothorax or air from the lungs before she can fly back to the Philippines. She started to take the anti cancer drug and it will be continued as maintenance drug for at least 10 months to 1 year.
Since Marie Chris is not a Singaporean, she is not entitled to any rebates or subsidies by the government and her basic foreign worker insurance does not cover the cancer treatment. Her employer has contributed their own funds for her treatments but Marie Chris still have to shoulder the remaining bills until she is fit for discharge. She is looking at raising SGD$10,000.00 in view of the calibrated and ongoing cancer treatment.
Marie Chris is now back in the Philippines and continuing her treatment in one of the hospitals.
This financial assistance will greatly help Marie Chris and her family go through this challenging time. Thank you for your generous support.
