Mrs. Evelyn Remolacio is my husband's mother. She is 62 years old.

She is currently confined in Mary Chiles General Hospital and the diagnosis is Bacterial Meningitis. She is in the hospital for the past 35 days (as of this writing).

Mama Evelyn, as we fondly call her is a strong woman. She was full of life. In February 2020, she told us that she's always dizzy and was having a hard time seeing things. She had her check-up and was advised by the doctor that she has cataract and needs to go on a surgery. After a few days, we decided to bring her to Mary Chiles General Hospital because she was not feeling well. After three days in the hospital, she was discharged.

After a week, we visited her in Pampanga and we were surprised to see a very weak woman -- she was not eating, she cannot recognize us and she barely talks. We decided to bring her back to the hospital for further medical attention.

She had CT Scan, different types of ultrasound, laboratory tests and blood works but the results were all okay. Her doctor finally asked for our permission so they can perform Spinal Tap (also known as lumbar puncture). After a few days of waiting, we were advised by the doctor that Mama has Bacterial Meningitis -- the most serious type of Meningitis. Upon knowing the diagnosis, we were left speechless. We didn't know what to say or how to react. Where did she get it? Everyone was clueless.

Since Mama has Bacterial Meningitis, her Neurologist advised us that it will take time for everything to go back to normal. Mama doesn't talk anymore, she doesn't know anyone around her, she doesn't understand things, she doesn't know how to comprehend.

The doctor decided to put her on NGT (Nasogastric Tube) so she can eat. We were advised that Mama needs it or else, she won't be eating because she also forgets about food and she doesn't know how to feed herself.

We are praying and hoping for your assistance so we can continue sustaining her needs in the hospital. The medicines that were prescribed are quite expensive since Mama has developed a brain infection and we have to keep up with the hospital bill.

Any amount of help will surely go a long way. We refused to stop fighting, we want to fight until the time comes that she's all good and back to her old self -- healthy, strong woman.

Thank you for reading this and may God bless us all. Keep safe everyone!
