Mama Act Initiative is a myriad of community activities geared towards building the capability of a young community women married at a very tender age especially the victims of "give away communal wives tradition".Kenya like in any other part of some African countries, young women are looking for leaders they can emulate. Unfortunately, a woman role often been assumed to be the roles of a home care taker negating what really constitutes a women roles in society.

Youth in Kenya have left out the most important aspect of young women in the entire process of development. Once married, these young women find it hard to spring back or actively participate in both local and national development processes. The condition and community marriage laws and traditions makes it even harder for them to be agents of change in society.Their efforts are thwarted, with no resources nothing can be forthcoming from these young women.

The biggest challenge then comes from the in ability to depend upon herself economically. These women should have something in their hands ongoing to empower them economically. When the entire home can look for help from them at any point in time, then this will bring out the first step to alleviating their plight.

Mama Speak would want to raise their voice and spring them to action but on the other hand creating a sustainable course of action. These young women in long run would speak, speak, speak and will never be shut down by man dependence syndrome.

This initiative cycle will be as follows:

Enlightenment/Action -Micro enterprise/Action -Endowment building/Action

It targets 150 young women.

Giving these young women an opportunity to unleash their potential is our ultimate goal- an empowered young woman(village woman) participating in both local and national development processes.
