Local Elections in the Philippines is coming up this May 13, 2019. In my City, about 65,986 are registered voters and more than 50% are women. Currently however only 2 out 10 seats for local policy makers are women. We want to change this. We want to increase women representation in the decision makers and policy level.
I am pushing my Mom to run as one of the City councilors. She used to to be a local councilor at a sub village of this City for 11 years, she was also a police officer (another sector believed to be more suitable for men). She served for 25 years as police officer. She is a law graduate.
We choose to run independently apart from a party, hence logisitics e.g. producing campaign materials etc, is a huge challenge. I want to appeal to everyone who believes it is high time to increase women participation in the decision and policy making table.
